2D Matrix Labels
2D Data Matrix coding symbology is gaining wide acceptance within the automotive, aerospace, medical device, defense and electronics industries. The Department of Defense selected 2D Data Matrix as the primary code for their Unique Identification (UID) program. In contrast to conventional bar codes 2D Data Matrix expands data collection into the manufacturing, operations, repair and overhaul environments. Some of the advantages of 2D Data Matrix over conventional bar codes are,
- Encodes information digitally.
- Can contain up to 100 times the data as the same space in a conventional bar code.
- They can be printed and read at various levels of magnification.
- Data can be recovered even if the mark is damaged and missing up to 20% of the symbol.
- They can be read in any orientation.
- Can store up to 3116 numeric or 2335 alphanumeric characters or up to 1555 bytes of binary information.
Willington Nameplate manufactures identification plates and pressure sensitive labels containing the 2D Data Matrix symbol using the Metalphoto® and Thermal Transfer printing processes. These are some of the materials we use,
